![]() Sailor Platos came to as Trish, and also feeling rather ill. She sat up and rubbed her head for a few seconds, before realizing she didn't know where she was. Of course, it was probably hard to tell in the first place, with three heads blocking the view of her surroundings.
"She's awake!" Usagi squealed.
![]() Like her first day at school, when Trish reached the doors leading out of the school that afternoon, Makoto and Ami were waiting for her. They grinned at her as she bounced up to them, and as they told her that Usagi was staying after again for being late, she felt like at least these two had finally accepted her. The three of them walked to the shrine, meeting Rei and Minako inside of it. Usagi arrived, barreling through the doorway once more, fifteen or so minutes later. Conversation stayed minimal and frivolous for the next half-hour or so, until Luna and Artemis came strolling in through the window. "Luna-chan!" Usagi squealed, grabbing the kitty, glad to have an excuse to stop studying. "Where've you two been?" Ami asked as Artemis jumped into Minako's lap. "Researching," Luna replied curtly, as she attempted to squirm out of Usagi's grip. Luna soon succeeded and jumped up onto the table, which the group was situated around. She briefly surveyed the group, giving Artemis a raised eyebrow, since he had opted to stay in Minako's lap, and then took a deep breath. "Artemis and I decided we'd spend the afternoon researching our new enemy while you were at school. It took us a while, but Artemis eventually found a discarded newspaper from a few days ago. Inside of it was a very interesting little article about a small rock," Luna explained, pausing briefly. "A small rock, which happens to be about the size of Usagi's house, and orbiting the Earth." Ami gasped, "I remember reading about that! I thought it was very curious that a small asteroid had just appeared suddenly in Earth's orbit. Scientists studying it believe it's very unstable, too, and that it could easily plunge through the atmosphere." "With it's, size, too, it could survive the trip," Artemis piped up. "This isn't an ordinary rock, anyway." "We both believe," Luna continued, tilting her head towards Artemis as she talked, "that it could have ties to something that happened in the past, during the end of the Silver Millennium. If Ami can get a proper energy scan of it, we can be sure. And if it is…then the demon you've encountered is actually from a larger band." "And then it might not've been coincidental with Trish's reawakening," Rei whispered. Usagi squeaked, "Then we really do have a new enemy to fight?" "Might," Luna corrected. "I just need to get to the local observatory where I can get proper scans," Ami stated, scratching her chin. "Getting in could prove to be a problem, though…" "I say we deal with that tomorrow," Minako commented. "We really need to have fun today. Like they say, all studying and no arcade makes Jane a very ugly girl!" All the other girls and cats simultaneously sweatdropped. "All work and no play makes Jake a dull boy, Mina-chan," Artemis whispered. "Ah, well, that too!" Minako laughed. Rei leaned over and gently hit her blonde friend on the back of the head. Minako yelped and fell over. There were a few seconds of silence before the room erupted into giggles. As everyone recovered themselves, Makoto looked down at her watch and let out an exclamation before jumping to her feet and hurriedly gathering her stuff together. The other girls looked at her with curiosity, but Trish was the one who jumped up as well. "Where are you going?" She wondered, inquisitive. "I'm going to be late for soccer practice," Makoto explained, and the pale blonde widened her eyes. "Oh! May I come along?" Trish asked, then quickly elaborated, "I mean, I've always wanted to see a Japanese soccer game, well, this will be a practice, and really, Japanese soccer couldn't be that much different from American, but the cultural experience!" Makoto laughed at her rambling, but nodded, "Sure. I doubt Mejiro-chan would mind." "Can I come too?" Minako asked hopefully, bouncing to her feet. "Of course!" The brunette returned, "All of you can come!" "I want to go!" Usagi cried, but found Luna glaring at her, "What?" "You haven't finished your homework, Usagi-chan," Luna stated. "And I don't believe your mother would approve you staying out even later then you should." "Aww, Luna-chan!" Usagi whined, but nonetheless began packing up her stuff resignedly. "Sorry, I can't come, Mako-chan," Rei excused herself. "Grandpa needs me here." "And I need to study," Ami nodded. "Plus I need to start figuring out how I'll gain access to the observatory." "Alright," Makoto said, still grinning, and turned to the two blondes beside her. "Just you two, then? Mina-chan, Trish-chan?" "Artemis too," Minako smiled, picking up the cat from the floor. "Sorry, Mina-chan," Artemis squirmed, "I'm going to help Ami-chan…" "Aww, Artemis!" Minako whined, but put him back down so he could follow Ami to the door. "Alright," Makoto said again, "See you guys tomorrow!" The girls split ways, Usagi and Ami going home, Makoto, Minako, and Trish heading towards the school, and Rei staying there to shut the door behind them. ![]() The three girls reached the school's sports fields a few minutes later to see all of Makoto's team already in their uniform and stretching. The brunette yelled her apologies as she rushed onto the field, leaving the two blondes to meander over to the metal stands and sit by themselves. They sat in silence for a few minutes, watching the girls out on the field practice passing, but Minako's talkative nature could not be kept in check for that long. Soon she was jabbering away about everything from clothes to her dream of having a boyfriend, as Trish listened mutely. When the minutes had turned themselves into a full hour, Trish felt irritable due to Minako's nonstop talk, and excused herself to go to the bathroom. She was considerably calmer when she returned, and found that Makoto's team had stopped practicing, and instead were watching as another team, clad in black-based uniforms, strolled onto the field as if they owned it. The irate leader of Makoto's team was meeting the leader of the other team across the field mid-way. The other leader's black hair, cropped shoulder length, barely moved as she walked across the field, and met the onslaught of the other girl. Even though Trish could hear the shouting from where she was, she couldn't understand a single word of it. Most of the yelling being done was from Makoto's leader, while the other girl calmly stood there, as if she were enjoying a fresh gust of wind. This seemed to only make the first girl angrier, and Trish found herself walking forward to help calm her down. As she neared, Trish could tell her skin was tanned, her muscles prominent. Her dark brown, nearly black, eyes were narrowed as she stood, unflinching, before the other leader's attack. And she was obviously from the western countries, which was reinforced when she spoke up. In a low, German, Turkish, English, American, mixed accent, she finally said, in English, ")I don't know what in hell you're talking about, but my team is going to practice on this field tonight. Right now.(" The other girl, confused, let herself be brushed past by the black-haired girl as she tried to figure out what had just been said to her. Quickly coming to the conclusion that it wasn't very nice, she got back in the black-haired girl's face. ")If you don't move,(" the girl said softly, her eyes nearly slits, ")you're going to have a huge dent in your ugly face.(" ")Whoa, stop it now!(" Trish stepped in, having stopped just a few feet away, and speaking in English for the girl. The girl looked over at her, raising an eyebrow, and slightly surprised that the pale blonde had spoken English. "You can speak to her?" Makoto's leader asked, butting in. Trish nodded and the leader quickly said, "Then tell the bitch that she has to wait her turn to practice. There's a signup sheet next to the entrance and as she can CLEARLY see, we're booked for this full hour. So they can go shove their heads up their--" "I think I got the idea," Trish quickly cut in before the other girl could get rallied up. The blonde turned to the black-haired girl and quickly explained the situation in less vulgar terms. As she finished, the black-haired girl gave a laugh. ")They expect me to read their funky symbols?(" She chortled. Trish didn't have a clue what was so funny about it, ")Yeah? It's their country.(" ")Hah! They give me a good laugh,(" she rolled her eyes. ")You should have more respect for them, otherwise you'll find yourself waking up in a trash basket,(" Trish growled. ")I'd like to see them try,(" the other girl returned, cracking her knuckles. She stopped and raised an eyebrow again as she surveyed Trish, ")Who are you, anyway?(" ")Trish Conti,(" the blonde blinked, and then as an afterthought, held out her hand. The black-haired girl eyed the hand reproachfully before returning stiffly, ")Brekke.(" "Well, are they going to leave or not?!" The leader butted in again, getting bored with the chatter she couldn't understand. ")That girl has some attitude,(" Brekke remarked as if "that girl" wasn't there, and grinned. Makoto's team's leader looked about to explode and murder Brekke, even thought she couldn't understand the black-haired girl's comment, when several of the girls from both teams gave loud shouts. Trish blinked and looked around, wondering what the fuss was about. She saw a few of the girls pointing upwards into the inky black sky, so she followed the direction with her gaze. Floating through the sky, all she could see at first were three bright, jade green objects that resembled eyes. As it got closer, though, she could tell it also had a body, a shadowy body much like that of Umbra's. Chills ran down her spine as beside her, Brekke gave a sudden gasp. ")What the freak is that thing?!(" Brekke exclaimed, looking slightly frightened. ")A shadow,(" Trish whispered, just loud enough that Brekke could hear her. The black-haired girl turned a suspicious gaze upon her, ")And how would you know that?(" Trish was spared from answering because the shadow decided that was the best time to launch its attack. Grey ribbons flew out from a basket-like thing it appeared to be holding and wrapped around the girls below. Trish felt one twining itself around her arms and midsection, and fell over. Beside her, Brekke struggled against similar ribbons, and the blonde heard her curse quite a few times. From above, they heard a hissing laughter, and Trish was able to crane her neck around enough to see the shadow, watching them, as energy pulsed up each ribbon to meet inside the basket. The blonde strained to look around and see if Makoto had been caught as well, but she couldn't see the brunette anywhere. Behind the metallic stands, Minako waited as Makoto sprinted over. The two nodded, silent, as they immediately brought out their henshin items and transformed. When they both were in senshi form, they ran out from behind the stands and stood back to back. "For love and justice, we are the pretty sailor-suited soldiers!" Sailor Venus cried. "Sailor Jupiter!" Jupiter chipped in. "…and Sailor Venus!" Venus ended. "Sssportula!" The shadow returned, "A pleasssure to meet you, and the sssame pleasssure to kill you!" With a complicated movement, she grabbed three new gray ribbons out of the air and tossed them lightly at the two senshi. Jupiter jumped clear, but Venus found them wrapping around her legs as she attempted to get away. She fell with a thump to the ground. "Venus!" The green senshi exclaimed, quickly charging an attack, "Sparkling wide pressure!" The attack cut through the ribbon holding Venus, and also incinerated a stray ribbon that had been heading back towards Jupiter. She sprinted over and helped Venus to her feet, before both turned their attention towards the slightly surprised shadow. "Fiesssty little buggersss, aren't you?" The shadow hissed, grabbing another few ribbons out of her basket. "Venus love me chain!" The senshi of love cried, snapping the chain, which materialized in her hands, forward and dispersing the ribbons. "Sparkling wide pressure!" Jupiter yelled again, and sent her attack straight at the shadow. Sportula dropped to the ground and out of harm's way last second, though. Meanwhile, Brekke still struggled in vain against the ribbons, while Trish had already given up, too tired from the loss of energy to continue. Suddenly, Brekke gave a very low-throated growl and the blonde watched, amazed, as she began to glow black. The ribbons holding her in place crumpled into dust, and she quickly stood up. ")Brekke?(" Trish blinked, staring at the girl. Sportula cursed as she felt more of her ribbons disappear, and turned towards the disruption. Sailors Jupiter and Venus also looked over at Brekke. "She must be the shadow's master!" Sailor Venus exclaimed, thinking fast. "Sparkling wide pressure!" Sailor Jupiter threw her attack at the black-haired girl that time. "No!" Trish cried, struggling to get up. But she was still bound by the gray ribbons, and had to watch as Brekke was thrown back several yards hard into the dirt as Jupiter's attack connected with her midriff. The black-haired girl immediately lost her black glow and appeared to be unconscious. Silence filled the field as Trish choked and the two soldiers realized the shadow was still there. To add insult to injury, the shadow was laughing rather obnoxiously. Abruptly, familiar bird song broke the quiet, and the mockingbird, Ora, appeared in a shower of silver sparks. He had something clutched in his claws, which he promptly dropped. Brekke reached out an arm and caught it before opening her eyes and getting back to her feet. Ora seemed satisfied, and landed on Trish's head. As he did so, the ribbons confining her fell apart, and she felt renewed energy course through her body. Meanwhile, Brekke raised the object Ora had given her, which the blonde could now see was a stone similar to her own, only this one white, and held it tightly in both her hands above her head. With a determined voice, the black-haired girl shouted, "Mikos star power, MAKE UP!" The white stone, glowing, dropped from her hands until it reached her chest, where it hovered in place. Brekke spun on her toes, a wall of dirt rising up around her from the ground, until it met above her hands. Then it started to crumple back downwards and spin outwards, revealing the transformed Brekke. When the dirt was completely gone, the stone attached itself to her front bow and she stopped spinning to pose, one hand behind her head, her elbow pointing straight out, and her other arm held up at a thirty-five degree angle. Her fuku was exactly the same as Platos', except pitch black. Even her bodice and gloves, which were white on the other soldiers', were black. "Legendary soldier of the second dimension, I am Sailor Mikos!" Brekke, only it wasn't Brekke anymore, in perfect Japanese cried. "For awakening me," she lowered her voice and narrowed her eyes, which in the gloom, appeared to be fathomless pools of darkness, "you will find yourself in vast amounts of pain." She ended her speech with a cackle. Sailor Mikos blinked and yelped, looking down at her outfit and around her, "What the hell am I doing?! Why the freak am I wearing this?! And since when can I speak Japanese?!" Sportula took the moment of confusion to grab more ribbons out of her basket and throw them at the group. The ribbons wrapped around all the soldiers, but Trish was able to scamper away. Ora yelled shrilly at her and clawed at her hair as she found herself standing a few feet away from the shadow. "Okay! Okay!" Trish snapped back at the bird, grabbing her stone, which she conveniently had in her pocket, "I'm transforming already! Besides, where were you earlier when we needed you?!" The bird quit yelling at this and took to the air. The blonde blinked once before throwing her hands into the air and transforming. As she posed, she found gray ribbons already winding around her legs. "Hey! Not fair!" Platos yelped, looking over to see Sportula smirking before the shadow gave a sharp tug on the ribbons, causing the white senshi to fall on her bottom. "Aqua shock!" Mikos cried, and the shadow found herself being knocked over by a large lump of mud. Sailor Platos somehow managed to get back to her feet, and call upon her own attack, "Cyclone inferno!" She aimed the flaming tornado carefully, and it flew forward, burning through the ribbons that held the other senshi in place. As soon as they were free, they each got to their feet. The white senshi saw Mikos give her a wink as the four soldiers instinctively took up positions in a circle around the shadow. Sportula saw she was cornered, and the soldiers could distinctly see the fear appear in her three eyes. The shadow thought fast, and slashed the ribbons, which still held the unconscious girls on the field in place, grabbing the remnants in her translucent hands before they could disappear. "Aqua…!" Mikos growled, apparently sensing what the shadow was up to, and this time the white senshi watched as Mikos formed her attack. She held one black-gloved hand out as she growled, and dirt flew up from the ground to her hand. From above, water formed and flowed down toward the palm of Mikos' hand, meeting up with the dirt to form a swirling mass of black mud. Sailor Mikos closed her eyes as the supply of both the water and dirt cut off, and moved her arm back, as if she were about to throw it. Meanwhile the shadow had gathered the remains of the ribbons into a large wad and appeared to be charging it. Abruptly, she threw it at the soldiers, aiming toward Jupiter and Platos. At the same time, Mikos yelled, "…shock!" The black senshi hurled her attack forward, and the two blobs collided midair, bursting apart, and showering the area with dirt. Sportula seemed to be slightly shocked, before she regained her wits. The shadow crouched down, about to jump straight up. "We have to finish it off!" Sailor Mikos commanded, realizing the shadow intended to escape. Jupiter and Venus both nodded while Platos held an expression of horror on her face. The two inner senshi began powering up their attacks as the shadow leapt up from the ground. "We can't just kill her!" The white senshi cried. Mikos shot her a glare, "Are you stupid or are you just mental?" Platos was taken aback, "Wha-what?" The black senshi rolled her eyes, "Oh, come on! It's evil, it's a monster, and it's getting away with a whole load of energy in that blasted basket of it's!" When Platos didn't answer, Mikos rolled her eyes again, muttered, "figures," and turned back towards the shadow, which was quickly escaping. Sportula was too far away for any of them to catch by then, and soon disappeared. "Ah, damnit," the black senshi cursed, and then rounded on the blonde, "Now look what you've done! Idiot! Schaumkopf! Baka!" Platos shrank, and backed away from the angry soldier, her eyes as wide as a frightened bunny. The other senshi decided to intervene at this time, and Jupiter stepped up into Mikos' face, her eyes flashing. "Stop yelling at her," the brunette senshi growled. "She's a senshi just like you are and she does not deserve that kind of treatment. We all make mistakes so, shove off." "I don't even know what the hell a senshi is!" Sailor Mikos cried, throwing her hands up, "I don't have a bloody clue what the hell just happened or what the hell I'm doing here in this bloody outfit! Why the freak should I even be listening to you?!" Jupiter put both her hands on the black senshi's shoulders to try and calm her down as she softly explained, "We are all soldiers, and we're here to protect what's right. We protect the Earth and our princess, defending from any hostile forces. We seem to be under the shadow of a new invader, and since you're a senshi too, you have to help us." Mikos turned scarlet. "Nobody tells me what to do," she growled, her fists clenched. "I help no one unless I want to. And I will certainly not help you, after seeing this shoddy display of defense!" Sailor Mikos shook off the other senshi's hands and started backing away, one hand clenching the white stone, "You even have the nerve to say I'm to help you when you went ahead and attacked me first thing! Nobody tells me what to do!" At that point, she ripped off the stone, and bolted the other way down the field before the black glow had resided and she was completely back in her soccer uniform, leaving the three senshi standing there, amid a crowd of slowly reawakening girls.
![]() Sportula nervously moved through the shadows in the room until she was in front of the black throne, where the man sat, idly staring into space and drumming his fingers on the arm of the throne. The shadow could hear him humming some sort of song, which made her feel most of her nervousness subside and so she quickly opened her jade green eyes all at once. It startled the poor fellow. "GAH!" The man yelped, nearly jumping out of his seat. He swiftly recovered, and berated her, "Sportula! Don't come creeping up on me like that!" "Sssorry, Massster," Sportula paled slightly, and bowed. "Ah, it's alright," the man muttered, rubbing his forehead, then narrowed his eyes at the shadow. "Were you successful?" The shadow perked up noticeably, "Yesss, Massster." She held out the basket, in which glowed the energy she had collected. The man took it from her, dumped it upside down over the chair, and watched happily as it joined the other energy already in the chair. He then gave the basket back to Sportula. "Thank you. You are dismissed," the man said, and then called into the darkness as Sportula disappeared quickly. "Atra!" "Yesss Massster?" Atra answered, appearing at his shoulder. "How much more, do you think?" He wondered, tapping the throne with his fingers again. "Not much," Atra returned. "We ssshould trussst the next misssion with sssomeone more powerful, though, then the previousss two." "Who?" The man asked, staring off into space again and not really listening. "Ssspaghetti head, of courssse," Atra said, in a completely deadpan voice. "Alright, go ahead," he stated. Atra rolled her eyes and left him, moving to a far corner of the room, where a set of pale red eyes abruptly opened to watch her. The shadow noticed the movement, and smiled with her thin slit of a mouth. "Dolor," she hissed softly, "The perfect ssshadow I'm looking for."
